The blue/green shapes scattered around the centre represent the inlaid tilework or "zellij" which is typical of the city of Mekn�s. Earthen buildings and date palms ascend diagonally towards the top left, flattening the pictorial space, and the whole is bathed in the gold and pink light of dawn.
